ATTICA — Dorothy E. (Huish) Currie, 72, 803 E. Jackson St, Attica, died in the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital, on Saturday, October 7, at 7:44 p.m. She has been in failing health for the past several years. Dorothy was born in Elyria, Ohio, on May 15, 1928. She was the daughter of Raymond H. and Charlotte Irene Pursell Huish. Dorothy graduated from Youngstown High School and attended Alderson-Boaddus College School of Nursing. She had lived in Japan, Germany and all over the United States. She had resided in Griffith from 1968-1998 when she moved to Attica in 1998. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hammond and was actively involved in the Attica First United Methodist Church acting as a volunteer in work and worship in the church. While living in Griffith she was active in volunteer work in her church and at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond. She had been active in the Girl Scouts. she enjoyed music and reading. She married John Richard Currie, Sr., on November 20, 1948 in Youngstown Ohio. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1999. surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Deborah) Ranslow, Springfield, Ill; three sons, John (wife-Linda) Currie, Jr., Ashland, Ohio; Douglas (wife-Caroline) Currie, Nashua, N.H.; Jeffery (wife-Justine) Currie, Attica; six grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Huish, Jr., Canfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Hammond, on Saturday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Internment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica United Methodist Church Thrift Shop, Life Line of St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital or the St. Margaret's Hospital, Hammond. – jlr
